This is the second Yardley Quick Dry (Limited Summer Edition) polish that I bought. You can see the Summer Sun swatch here. This range of Yardley Quick Dry polishes, as far as I know, was only released in South Africa. I got it on sale, so I assume that it’s from last season. I still like it though (and, who can resist a sale??).
Fresh off the press! I’ve just finished this mani and I’m very happy!
The theme for today was “Things that go BUMP in the night”. I decided to stick with one type of monster and just make a little family of them on my fingertips. I think they are more adorable than scary… What do you think? Which is your favourite.. the “baby” on my pinky nail is definitely mine!
I did this manicure a while ago while I was recovering from my appendix surgery. You would think that I would have done about 10 manicures in that week I was off work, but to be honest I was so high on pain meds that I don’t think they would have been very good. The time wasn’t completely wasted, I used it to catch up on my sleep and series (I started and finished Game of Thrones in that time).
I was going for a Pop Art theme.. I attempted to make a tutorial, but again, the pain meds!
My next post will probably be for the Hallowe’en Challenge. Anyone want to join in?
Let’s start this post off with some nail pictures, seeing as it’s been a while…
I know that this is a very simple manicure, but I needed something that I could wear to work. This may be pushing it because it looks a bit disco, but I couldn’t resist. It’s nice working and then the glitter catches your eye and you can stare at it for a few seconds and think: “So pretty… so shiny…” before you have to snap back to reality. So, lets just say, it brightens up my day.
I also have some good news. My boyfriend and I have found an apartment! So we will be moving in in about 2 weeks! 🙂 I’m so excited to get my life sorted out, to have a place to call home.. and of course, to have a place to stash all my polishes. Hopefully then I’ll have more time and be settled enough to start blogging more consistently.
I’m loving being back in South Africa. Although it’s technically autumn, it’s absolutely beautiful weather. This inspired me to do a cheerful, summery nail design.
I’m loving nude at the moment, so I used that as the undercoat. I’m still using mainly my Korean brands, but I’m hoping to go shopping soon. We’re staying a bit outside of Johannesburg, it’s about a 15min drive to the nearest store. So I used a Modi nude colour, Modi white and a luminous blue and orange by Organic Farm (also a Korean brand that were super cheap). The only other thing I used was my dotting tool to make little daisies. Please excuse the pics, they aren’t 100% as I haven’t made a new lightbox yet. But I hope you can get the gist of it anyway.
We have also been playing around with my camera trying to do some awesome water shots in the pool. So we tried a nail one. It’s not amazing, but I like the effect. I’ll definitely try it again 🙂
And last, but not least: Here is a glimpse of the beautiful estate we’re currently staying on with my boyfriends parents. It really feels like a vacation and I’m trying to soak in all of the beautiful surroundings. This is a picture we took when we went on a golf cart ride around the estate the other day. I’m really so blessed and happy to be in such a pretty place!
I did this manicure today and I’m still deciding if I like it or not. What do you think? I thought it was kind of eye catching and different, so I decided to enter it as my second picture in Mommy Loves Nail Polish’s awesome Facebook contest, you can check out all the pics on her Facebook page.
About 80% of my polishes are in a box on their way back to South Africa right now, so I’ve got really limited colours to work with. I bought this blue about 2 days ago (just what I need a few days before leaving the country – more luggage!). But I couldn’t resist, it was less than $1, it’s a brand called Organic Farm and not bad for the price! This is a lumo deep blue. Then I stamped on top of it with Konad M83 and added some red gems. Hot or not? I’m still undecided.
I really enjoyed taking this mani out on the town today. It was bright and the perfect nail art to have for the day I had. My boyfriend and I went to a theme park, Lotte World in Seoul. It was a lot of fun! I went on my first roller coaster and screamed my lungs out! I wish I had a photo of me on the ride, it would have been priceless! But here’s a photo of Lotte World anyway 🙂
In 8 days I’m going to be getting on a plane with 46kg of my life in a bag and moving back to South Africa. I’ve got a lot of mixed emotions about the move back. On the one hand I’m really excited to see my friends and family that I haven’t seen in a year. But on the other hand I’m unemployed and moving to the big city.
Anyways, it got me thinking about South Africa. I decided to to a manicure of Ndebele murals. They are famous for their beautiful, colourful patterns that they paint on their houses. I absolutely love it. I think it really shows how vibrant and unique South Africa is. We have 11 languages, and tons of different cultures in our country.
I used lots of different colours, and I couldn’t tell you how I did it. I just looked at a picture and tried to copy some of the designs. I’m also going to enter this in Mommy Loves Polish’s competition on Facebook, so please check it out and support this great competition.
Here are the pics of the nails, what do you think? I hope you like it..
These are the pictures of the Ndebele designs:
