Jazz Picnic nails

My aunt organised an awesome event. It was a picnic at a beautiful venue in Johannesburg South Africa (Shepstone Gardens). She’s started a Popup Food business which creates once-off events. So, naturally, I had to have my nails looking FAB!

I stuck with the tried and tested – leopard print. Still loving it, I don’t know if it’s “old news” or anything. I’m still rocking it πŸ™‚

So here is what my mani looked like:

The Picnic was a lot of fun! The gardens were absolutely magical. They were so spectacular that I have to share some pics Β with you.

My friend’s wedding, work, work and new nails!

It seems like I’m always starting with an apology for not writing for so long. So lets keep with the trend: I’m SO sorry I have been so scarce. I miss blogging so much!

I’ve been extremely busy at work, but I’m loving every minute of it. Everyone is so nice and friendly. I’m learning so much and I’m thankful every day for ending up where I have.

In between the work, work and work… I went to one of my best friend’s weddings. It was so exciting because it was my first close friend to get married. I hear that from here onwards it’s the “wedding season” where I’ll be attending lots of weddings. Exciting times, but still awaiting my invites from my friends (hint, hint… hurry up and get married! I love weddings!).

So we made the long trek, (it was 1000 kms away – for the Americans, I’m not sure what that is in miles.. but it’s far) for the weekend. What makes it even worse is that we drove down to save money. So, it was a busy weekend, and a very quick visit!

Long story short: the wedding was BEAUTIFUL, I had tons of fun and I saw my family for the first time in about 16 months. So I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

Here’s a picture of me and the bride (one of my dearest friends). Doesn’t she look stunning?!

I’m really over-the-moon happy for her and her new hubby. They are adorable together and they are going to be amazingly happy.

Here is a picture of my friends and I at the wedding. We hadn’t seen each other for over a year. These are my best friends from primary (elementary) school!

And.. because this is a nail art blog after all, I decided to throw in a picture of actual NAILS.

Please remember that I haven’t got it together to make a new light box since I moved back to South Africa, so this picture doesn’t do it justice and you can’t see the colours. It is a lot of tans, whites and blacks anyway… I tried to so a leopard print with lace. Not sure if I really like it, but I’m happy for now πŸ™‚ Just excited to be posting again.

I promise I will have my life together ASAP and I will post more nail pictures. I hope you are all well, I miss the blogging world a lot..

Have a great week everyone!

100 follows!

THANK YOU! I have just reached 100 followers, and I am so happy! Thank you to everyone who follows me! I really appreciate all the kind words and support I’ve received since I started in November last year.

It’s been 7 days since I posted my interview nails, since then I’ve had 4 interviews. It’s been an extremely busy time. But, I’m happy to announce that I was offered a job, starting on Monday (tomorrow)! I’m extremely happy and excited. I’m also a tad bit nervous..

Needless to say, I haven’t had a lot of time to experiment with nail art. So I’m going to post one from the archives.

This was supposed to be leopard print, but I used two colours in the dots, so I think it looks a bit like camouflage. Anyway, I still like it, I hope you do too πŸ™‚

Leopard Print Tutorial

I’m so happy that leopard print is back, because I love it! Also, thank goodness it’s really easy to create your own leopard print nails. The great thing with leopard print is that it never has to be 100% perfect.. The more irregular the shapes, the better it looks. So… Here’s a step-by-step tutorial how to do leopard print nails:

Step 1:

Choose your undercoat color and paint your undercoat. I used the natural colours because I wanted to do two accent nails to spruce it up a bit. So, I used a nude from Missha. For my accent nails I painted half nude and half burnt pink (Missha). But you don’t have to do accent nails.

Step 2:

Use your second colour to create random irregular shapes on your nail. I try to keep all the “blobs” about the same size, but some are long and thin while others are round and fatter. I used a nail art brush, but you could also use a dotting tool. I prefer to make these dots smaller and do more. Other people sometimes do larger blobs and fewer.Β  I used OPI “Wooden Shoe Like to Know” for this step.

Remember: keep a bit of space between each for the third colour and don’t stress if it doesn’t look like much yet.

Step 3:

If you are not doing an accent nail, then this will be your final step. Using a small paint brush or nail art brush paint black around your brown blobs. For this step, DON’T just make a perfect black ring around your brown. The black lines should be broken. Also, they can follow the contours of your irregular blobs.

If you have large spaces between leopard print dots, you can use your black to draw short lines and dots. This will fill up the space and complete the look.

Step 4: Accent Nails

For my accent nails (ring and middle fingers) I only did the leopard print on the nude half of the nails. The burnt pink I left blank. Then, down the dividing line in the center of each nail I stuck gold square metal studs. I really like the effect this creates.

Finally, remember to put a top coat on. And that’s it!

You can go wild (excuse the pun) with leopard print πŸ™‚ Check out some other ideas for leopard print that I was playing around with on my nail wheel.

I’m having so much fun on my nail wheels, I don’t know why I didn’t get them sooner! I hope you like them.. Which is your favorite? πŸ™‚

Birthday Leopard Nails :)

Last Friday was my birthday, I was so lucky to get some polish pressies from my friend Nailart for funn.

I did a leopard print design on two accent nails. I love this polish, its Wet n Wild Fergie “Heels of Steel”. You almost don’t need two coats, it applies so nicely too πŸ™‚

So, here it is πŸ™‚

Snow Leopard… grrrr!

Snow leopard polishes

Here are some of the things I used for this design.

So… I got new winter pants to relax around the house in. They are AMAZING white leopard print, I call them my “snow leopard” pants. So this mani was inspired by my new beautiful pants.

I used a silver nail art two way pen and brush (shown). It’s not really necessary, you could just use silver and a dotting tool for the leopard print. But the silver brush comes in handy for the silver stripe on the french mani. I used a Konad white (shown) and an Organic Farm grey (not shown).

Here’s the final mani πŸ™‚

This is the final result. Snow Leopard inspired mani with grey and silver french manicure. Check. πŸ™‚
