Lilac and Lines

These are the last few days of vacation, so I’ve been trying to relax and do as little as possible – hence the lack of posts lately. Sorry about that, but I will get back into the swing of things soon 🙂

Here is a very simple manicure. I did a lilac undercoat (an unnamed polish from The Face Shop) and I used a white 2-way nail art brush/pen to make the stripes. I used to be so scared of doing lines freehand, but these long brushes for nail art are super handy. It’s so easy to do lines now, although they aren’t perfect, they look fine 🙂 Then I added some nail gems to the pinky.

I like how it turned out 🙂 I hope you all like it..

Day 11 – Gifts

Today’s topic was “gifts”. I did one mani for this, and I hated it. So I removed it and started again. I much prefer this one 🙂

I wanted something simple, but cute, and I like how this one has turned out! I’m going through a bow phase, so yet again, there’s a bow in this mani.

I decided at the end to add a little gift tag in brown and I wanted to write something on it. The only thing that would fit was “to”. My boyfriend was teasing me a lot today saying “What does ‘to’ mean? You should have written something more awesome!”  I replied: “Well, firstly I was going for the ‘to’ and ‘from’ thing that you usually write on gift tags. Secondly, YOU try writing in tiny letters in nail polish on a nail!”. Sheesh, men! They just don’t get it. It’s not as easy as it looks! 🙂

So here it is..  🙂 I hope you like it!

I really want to share links to the other bloggers doing this challenge. But I haven’t figured out that other website yet (if anyone can show me how to add my link to that group, I would really appreciate it). So I’ll just do it old-fashioned style 🙂

Day 10 – Lights

The topic for today is “lights”. Easier said than done! Originally I wanted to do something colourful, like colourful Christmas lights. But, I quickly  changed my mind.. I went for a simple manicure!

I used OPI “Wooden Shoe Like to Know” (my only OPI 😦 But I love it), a black nail art brush and a gold glitter polish. I tried to make it look like a string of lights, but I’m not sure if it came across like that.

Anyway, here it is 🙂 Its really really simple, but I hope you like it 🙂

Day 7 – Ornaments

Sorry for the late post, it’s been a busy weekend! I did these nails a day or two ago, but I haven’t had time to post them yet.

I really struggled with this topic. Eventually, I just Googled it and used a picture for inspiration. I used tons of different random polishes, too many to list. I hope you like it! Here’s the final product 🙂

Day 6 – White

The theme for Day 6 is “White”. I found it a bit hard because I didn’t know how to make white exciting. So I decided to do a “lace”-inspired manicure. I used some inspiration from Google – Here is the blog I used for inspiration. She used mainly stamps, and because of my mental block against stamping, I decided to do it purely by hand.

I used a purple The Face Shop for an undercoat and I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “White On” for the finer work. I used a dotting tool and a nail art paint brush. Also, I added some jewels, just for the bling factor. I don’t think it’s really true to the theme of the day because the white is quite minimal.. but I love it!

Not to ramble on.. so, here it is. What do you think?

Day 4 – Silver

I must confess.. I don’t have just a plain silver polish (gasp), I know. Embarrassing. I haven’t had time or money to buy a silver polish, so I decided to just make a plan.

My plan: Pink undercoat, silver decorations. I think it worked out quite well (if I do say so myself). This is one of my fave manicures so far 🙂 yay!

All I used was a Modi (Korean brand which is super cheap and so far has been great) burnt pink with a gold shimmer,  a silver two-way nail art pen/brush, and a few silver jewels.

So, this is my silver attempt. Although it doesn’t look very silvery in the pictures, in the light the silver really shines, it is quite pretty 🙂 I hope you like it as much as I do…

My friend’s mani

Today I spent an extremely relaxed day at my friend’s house in Seoul, Korea. I’m coming down with flu, so we stayed indoors and ate nice food. I did my friend’s nails… 🙂

World AIDS Day – 1 December

December 1st is World AIDS Day, so I’d like to dedicate this mani tho the cause. What is World AIDS Day about you ask? Here’s a small summary from the World Health Organisation:

World AIDS Day on 1 December brings together people from around the world to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the pandemic. The day is an opportunity for public and private partners to spread awareness about the status of the pandemic and encourage progress in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care in high prevalence countries and around the world. – WHO World AIDS Day

For more information here a a website, I think it’s UK based, but it is nicely done and has some good ideas – World AIDS Day.

For my mani I used an unnamed The Face Shop red (In the pics), Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “White On” and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “Black out”. I hope you like my manicure 🙂

Ombre with a twist

This is one from the archives. I did it a couple of days ago when I was playing around with ombre nails. I attempted to do four colours (overly ambitious, I know). I wanted an earth toned mani, so I did black, dark brown, beige and white. It turned out well, I think 🙂 However, I messed up one of the nails at the cuticle, so I added the black pattern and the jewel to cover it up. All in all, I like this mani, I hope you do too 🙂

I used: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “Black out”, a dark brown by Skin Food (Korean brand), a beige by Missha (Korean brand) and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “White on”.
