French Floral Decals

Happy Tuesday everyone! Every day brings us closer to the Festive Season, the end of the year and yet another year to come. Can you believe it??

I’ve been very busy with work lately. I also can’t wear outrageous nails to work (I wish I could!). So I did a very simple French style mani, with a little floral decal or two (leftover from Korea)Β to spice it up!

I used a Modi white and a Face Shop glitter topcoat (all from my time in Korea).. I know what you are thinking, and yes, I do need to go shopping in South Africa and top up my polish collection πŸ™‚

Simple lines..

This is one from the archives. I was just playing around and I created this mani. I used a Face Shop for the undercoat. I then put a silver stripe down the center and added metal studs as an accent on one nail.

I love the idea of putting a single stripe down the center of a nail, what do you think?

Water Marble Monday

Seeing as I’m officially finished teaching AND I’m trying to avoid packing up my whole apartment, I decided to give water marbling another try πŸ™‚

I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “Twisted Pink” and a blue from The Face Shop. I think that I’m getting the hang of water marbling because I only had to re-do one nail! So I’m really happy! Here it is:

I love how each nail is unique and unpredictable. My favourite is the thumb. What do you think?

Good ol’ French Manicure :)

Photo 2013-01-29 11 23 42 PM

Not much to say about this manicure, it’s really simple. I did the french manicure free hand (which was fine because I didn’t have an undercoat, so if I messed up I could use an ear bud and nail polish remover to tidy up). Then I added my The Face Shop “Face It” Shimmer top coat – which I love! It’s so subtle and pretty. I put some lace stickers on three nails and added another top coat. And that’s it. Super simple and quick.

I absolutely LOVE french manicures, I know they are really common and maybe a bit over done, but it never disappoints me when I wear it πŸ™‚ I hope you like it..

Black & glam manicure

I was so shocked when I checked the last time I posted (or did my nails), it’s been so long! Probably the longest time since I started my blog. So, I’m happy to be posting again πŸ™‚

I ordered a couple of goodies online to play around with. I ordered some chunky circular glitter, which I’ve been keen to try out.

So.. today I used the black holographic chunky glitter. I used “Face It” (from The Face Shop in Korea) as the undercoat. It’s really dark, it looks black in the pictures, but it’s actually shimmers purple and green, you can kind of see it in the bottle.

Here are some pics. I hope you like it πŸ™‚

Fimo cane flowers :)

I haven’t posted or been very active lately.,. I haven’t really had any inspiration. BUT, today a parcel arrived with some of my nail goodies that I ordered. So, I was very excited to try out some new things πŸ™‚

One of the things I ordered was a “fimo cane”. I’d never heard of these until a few days ago when I came across one online. I really like the idea of it because you can get SOOOO many pieces out of one stick (I’ve hardly made a dent in them). I paid about $1 for one stick, I think it’s good value πŸ™‚ Here are some pics of the fimo canes, I just used a box cutter to cut them. If you want a more comprehensive tutorial, here is a YouTube video.

Fimo Cane tutorial

The flowers are tiny and adorable! But, quite hard to cut really thin, after a few I got the hang of it.

For this manicure I used The Face Shop (“Face It”) glitter purple and added a few flowers. Simple and cute. I hope you like it!

Floral Stamping

Can you believe it, this is my first stamping post! I’ve had a phobia of stamping, and I finally plucked up the courage to attempt a stamping manicure to share πŸ™‚

I used Konad stamping plate number m71 (you can see it in one of the pics). For the undercoats I used two different Missha blues (they don’t have names, hence the lack of info). Then, I topped it all off with a Shimmer Topcoat (It’s in Korean – “Shwimmer Topcoat” in the picture if you can read Korean) from the Face Shop which I just bought today.

It doesn’t look like much, but it took me AGES to do. I stamped the one nail and then painted a topcoat and it smudged. So I had to start that whole nail again! Arg! But despite the frustrations, I really like it! I hope you all like it too πŸ™‚

I absolutely loveΒ this topcoat, its so subtle, but it’s such a pretty shimmer. I think it will look nice with lots of different polishes. Yay! I love a good polish purchase πŸ™‚ And it was only about $3 πŸ™‚

Lilac and Lines

These are the last few days of vacation, so I’ve been trying to relax and do as little as possible – hence the lack of posts lately. Sorry about that, but I will get back into the swing of things soon πŸ™‚

Here is a very simple manicure. I did a lilac undercoat (an unnamed polish from The Face Shop) and I used a white 2-way nail art brush/pen to make the stripes. I used to be so scared of doing lines freehand, but these long brushes for nail art are super handy. It’s so easy to do lines now, although they aren’t perfect, they look fine πŸ™‚ Then I added some nail gems to the pinky.

I like how it turned out πŸ™‚ I hope you all like it..

Day 21 – Water Marble

The day that I’ve been most nervous about – Water Marble. It didn’t turn out TOO bad.. let’s put it this way, there is one nail that I really like. The rest are… meh.

I used a glitter (Skin Food) and a Face Shop dark purple. Nothing much else to say. I’m not a pro and it’s not that great, but it’s done πŸ™‚ I do want to practice this technique and learn how to do it nicely πŸ™‚

Day 16 – Inspired by a song

Ok.. I’ve been struggling to keep up with these posts – AND it’s the most difficult section of topics. I decided to do Jingle Bells (I know that Polish Alcoholic did the same topic, and did an awesome job, which I was horrified to see, I’ve been terrified of going up against such a great blog in this challenge with the same topic) but I thought about it for ages and I couldn’t think of anything else. I figured it’s better to get it done than nothing at all.

I used a Skin Food mustard colour and a Face Shop yellow. I also used a Sally Hansen “White On”. I popped on a bow sticker for good measure too.

I promise that I will be more creative soon (tomorrow is the last day of work). I will be more creative and put some more time into this challenge for the future.. but for now.. here it is:
