Best of 2013

Happy New Year to everyone. I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support in 2013 and I look forward to a year filled with even more mani’s in 2014.

So, what better way to bring in the New Year than to look back at the year past? I’ve chosen a few mani’s from my blog from 2013 based on the following criteria:

  • Most viewed post
  • Most comments on a post
  • My favourite tutorial
  • My favourite mani
  • Most popular mani of all time (not necessarily 2013)

Most viewed post in 2013: Good ol’ French Manicure 🙂
This proves that classics are still popular!

(Thank you to all who took the time to comment and give feedback on this manicure)

My favourite tutorial: Hand-painted Roses
This was inspired by Katy Perry nails that I saw online. I love how they turned out!

My favourite mani from 2013: South Africa: Ndebele Manicure
With the recent passing of Tata Mandela, this manicure has had special importance for me. It really portrays the colourful, vibrant nation that South Africans come from.

Most popular mani of all time (not necessarily 2013): Ombre Nails Tutorial
This was from 2012, but is still extremely popular with viewers.

A close second (which has really surprised me) is the Arsenal Fan nails I did. I did these because my boyfriend is a huge fan, so I thought it would be fun. I constantly get views on this and I would love to do another version in 2014.

Thank you for all the support, kind words, advice and feedback from 2013. I’m looking forward to this year, meeting new bloggers, learning, trying new things on my blog and improving it even more. That’s it from me. What are your favourite posts on your blog from 2013?

Christmas with FLP: Christmas Movie

I absolutely love this movie and Tim Burton. I did this movie last year as well (you can look at it here) but I just couldn’t resist.

Here’s the Nightmare Before Christmas Jack and Sally mani (it has a nice ring to it, hey?):

Christmas with FLP: Cute Christmas animal

Last year I did reindeer, and I had a lot of fun. You can check them out here. I’m not quite sure if this really counts as a “Christmas animal”, but I couldn’t help myself. I put Christmas hats on them, but still not sure if they are animals. I think minions are adorable, so I decided to give it a shot.

So here the little Christmas minions are:

Christmas with FLP: Gifts/presents

If you haven’t noticed yet, I am extremely behind on this Christmas challenge. I had a friend’s wedding last weekend and we had lots of guests staying over, so needless to say very little nail art was done. The others have been doing some awesome manis, remember to check them out (Polished Tickles and Beauty, For the Love of Nail Art and Bubbly Brunette).

So, I’ve made it my mission this weekend to catch up! This post was supposed to be completed a week ago, but I’ve finally managed to do it. I really liked how it turned out. It’s super simple to do, but so cute! I hope you all like it.

Christmas with FLP: Inspired by Christmas colours

Hello all you lovely people!

I hope that everyone has had a fantastic weekend! It’s only a few weeks until Christmas and I’m beginning to get very excited for the break!

Today’s challenge was: Inspired by Christmas colours. I must say, mine aren’t the traditional Christmas colours, but I really love how it turned out. I created some thick stripes with normal scotch tape that I cut in half. Then I hand painted some green holly leaves and used a dotting tool to create the berries (with a smaller white accent).

I hope you like it as much as I do:

Tutorial: Hand-painted Roses

I’m extremely happy with how these turned out! The nice thing about roses is that they don’t have to be absolutely perfect to look gorge! Here’s the final result:

I got the inspiration from Katy Perry. I absolutely love her nails, she always has such crazy designs. See the rose mani below (top left)?

Tutorial: Textured Marble Nails

I’ve been wanting to try these nails for a while. It’s a simple concept and I love how it turned out! It gives your nails such a lovely texture and it’s easy enough to do quickly. I wanted very earthy colours to imitate a stone/marble texture. Check out the photo tutorial if you want to try it yourself!
