Nail Art Weekly – Week 2

It is the second week of Danni from Gingerbread Smile‘s Nail Art Weekly challenge. The theme for this week is TV or Film. I must say, I’m a bit of a TV baby, so it was quite tricky to narrow it down.

I’ve always loved Marvel comics and the Avengers movie was just too awesome to have all the characters together. So, yes, you guessed it. I decided to do an Avengers manicure. I hope you like!

Yardley Quick Dry – Moonlight Magic Swatch

This is the second Yardley Quick Dry (Limited Summer Edition) polish that I bought. You can see the Summer Sun swatch here. This range of Yardley Quick Dry polishes, as far as I know, was only released in South Africa. I got it on sale, so I assume that it’s from last season. I still like it though (and, who can resist a sale??).

This colour is called: “Midnight Magic”. I really love this colour! It’s got a beautiful, midnight blue, rich colour. There’s also a subtle violet shimmer which I love. What do you think?

Compared to the yellow that I swatched a few days ago, this takes much fewer coats to cover the nail completely. The Summer Sun yellow took 3-4 coats! This covers nicely with only 2 coats.

It’s easy to apply (again, loving the applicator brush shape and size) and the consistency is good. All in all – I like! Here’s a summary of my thoughts on this polish:

I added some studs to spruce it up a bit..

Jazz Picnic nails

My aunt organised an awesome event. It was a picnic at a beautiful venue in Johannesburg South Africa (Shepstone Gardens). She’s started a Popup Food business which creates once-off events. So, naturally, I had to have my nails looking FAB!

I stuck with the tried and tested – leopard print. Still loving it, I don’t know if it’s “old news” or anything. I’m still rocking it 🙂

So here is what my mani looked like:

The Picnic was a lot of fun! The gardens were absolutely magical. They were so spectacular that I have to share some pics  with you.

100 follows!

THANK YOU! I have just reached 100 followers, and I am so happy! Thank you to everyone who follows me! I really appreciate all the kind words and support I’ve received since I started in November last year.

It’s been 7 days since I posted my interview nails, since then I’ve had 4 interviews. It’s been an extremely busy time. But, I’m happy to announce that I was offered a job, starting on Monday (tomorrow)! I’m extremely happy and excited. I’m also a tad bit nervous..

Needless to say, I haven’t had a lot of time to experiment with nail art. So I’m going to post one from the archives.

This was supposed to be leopard print, but I used two colours in the dots, so I think it looks a bit like camouflage. Anyway, I still like it, I hope you do too 🙂

Interview nails

I want to start this post of by thanking The Nailinator for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award. I have already done a post on it, but I’m am still flattered, honoured and appreciative 🙂

I’ve officially entered the job hunt, and those of us who live in South Africa know just how challenging that can be. I was thrilled to receive a call only 2 days after posting my CV on an online job searching site. So, the following day (Thursday this week to be exact) I went in for an interview.

Now, I couldn’t go rocking a pink, blue and generally lumo water marble or some other extroverted nail art choice. So, I went the tried and tested french manicure route. I did add a little silver sticker, which I LOVE, that I got in Korea. I also went for a nude undercoat as opposed to the traditional pink. I’m very happy with how it looks! I’ll have to wait and see how the interview went. I have a different interview on Monday, so I hope that goes well. I’m excited to start working and to start my career. This may be the first of many more “career nails” to come. But I promise to still do outrageous, colourful designs on the weekend! 🙂

Here it is, I hope you like:

Simple lines..

This is one from the archives. I was just playing around and I created this mani. I used a Face Shop for the undercoat. I then put a silver stripe down the center and added metal studs as an accent on one nail.

I love the idea of putting a single stripe down the center of a nail, what do you think?
