Day 24 – Re-create a holiday mani

Wow! 24 manicures in 24 days.. and now it’s Christmas πŸ™‚ What a wonderful end to a fun and entertaining challenge.

I wanted to do something simple and elegant for Christmas, so I re-created the simple Christmas tree manicure. Here is a link to a picture tutorial from Girls Hue. But this mani has been really popular this year so I’m sure you’ve seen it.

Here it is πŸ™‚ Merry Christmas everyone!

Day 10 – Lights

The topic for today is “lights”. Easier said than done! Originally I wanted to do something colourful, like colourful Christmas lights. But, I quicklyΒ  changed my mind.. I went for a simple manicure!

I used OPI “Wooden Shoe Like to Know” (my only OPI 😦 But I love it), a black nail art brush and a gold glitter polish. I tried to make it look like a string of lights, but I’m not sure if it came across like that.

Anyway, here it is πŸ™‚ Its really really simple, but I hope you like it πŸ™‚

Day 7 – Ornaments

Sorry for the late post, it’s been a busy weekend! I did these nails a day or two ago, but I haven’t had time to post them yet.

I really struggled with this topic. Eventually, I just Googled it and used a picture for inspiration. I used tons of different random polishes, too many to list. I hope you like it! Here’s the final product πŸ™‚

Eye shadow manicure

I have a broken gold eye shadow that I’ve been waiting to use. I saw this awesome idea on Pinterest where you place the eye shadow powder on your finger above the cuticle bed and blow it on to wet nail polish. Needless to say, when I tried this it didn’t work 😦 I think it’s because my powder was quite clumpy and moist, it didn’t move at all when I blew it. Fail.

So plan B: dry nail art brush. I just dabbed the powder starting from the top and working down toward the tip. I think it looked quite pretty, despite my initial hiccup πŸ™‚

I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “Flirt”, a crushed Aritaum gold eye shadow and OPI top coat. Here’s how it turned out πŸ™‚ (There is still quite a bit of glittery eye shadow around my hands that I just couldn’t clean off – one shower and it’ll be gone. Just excuse the glittery hands πŸ™‚ )

My broken eye shadow and the brush I used to dab it on with:

Real pressed flowers

Here in Korea there are such awesome nail art decorations online for about $1 (or in SA R7). I ordered some to play around with. I got these tiny, dried flowers, I thought they were really interesting. I only used about half of one circle of flowers (there were three in the pot that I got), so I’m really happy. They are so delicate and small though. It’s very difficult to put them on your nails though.

I used Korean polish, Konad gold and a deep red from Aritaum (Modi).

I’m going to use them again in a more colourful manicure, I’m not sure I’m a huge fan of the dark one. What do you think?

Autumn colours :)

All around Seoul at the moment are the most beautiful autumn trees. The bright yellows are such a beautiful colour. This is the road outside the school where I work.

The whole time I was away I couldn’t wait to get home and do a fall manicure. So.. here is my attempt πŸ™‚

I used a nail art brush to make little leaves. I tried to make it subtle and used lots of different colours to give it depth. However, I wasn’t crazy about the end result. I used Skin Food, Konad and Holika Holika (Korean brands). Here are the polishes I used.

I’m happy I tried it out, but it’s not my favourite mani. I can’t wait to keep trying new things πŸ™‚ What do you think?

The Lumineers :)

So maybe this is taking it a step too far, but I based this mani on a music video. Has anyone ever done that?

This is inspired by a song called “Hey Ho” by the Lumineers. Loving it at the moment! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvCBSSwgtg4

In the music video all the colours are muted and brown, until the end where there is multi-coloured confetti released on a crowd. There are also fairy lights all over, very pretty (this inspired my ring finger nail). What do you think?
I hope you like my mani πŸ™‚
