I Heart Friday

Hello Lovely People!

Guess what, it’s Friday! I couldn’t be happier for the weekend and a long deserved rest (who am I kidding, it’s St Paddy’s Day).

I decided to do something simple and cute, it’s about time. I’ve had the same polish on for close to two weeks (with a bit of a touch-up here and there). I used a Modi nude that I have from Korea and Sinful Colors white (loving the Sinful Colors btw).

I hope you all like my simple mani. Wishing everyone a happy Friday and a fun-filled weekend.

French Floral Decals

Happy Tuesday everyone! Every day brings us closer to the Festive Season, the end of the year and yet another year to come. Can you believe it??

I’ve been very busy with work lately. I also can’t wear outrageous nails to work (I wish I could!). So I did a very simple French style mani, with a little floral decal or two (leftover from Korea)Β to spice it up!

I used a Modi white and a Face Shop glitter topcoat (all from my time in Korea).. I know what you are thinking, and yes, I do need to go shopping in South Africa and top up my polish collection πŸ™‚

Halloween Challenge: #4 Gothic

I hope you have all had a fabulous weekend! I’ve had a very relaxing and restful one.

Here is my design for the “Gothic” theme. I’m not sure if it’s really Gothic, but I tried! I used a Modi deep red that I had from Korea (number 68 – my Korean is quite rusty, but I think it’s called “Riding Hood”). I left some of the nail natural. I also went a bit gem-crazy. It’s nice to go over the top once in a while πŸ™‚

Polka dot and lace

I know this is off-topic (I am supposed to be posting a Halloween mani today), but I didn’t get a chance to do my Halloween mani last night. I’ll try do it asap πŸ™‚

In the meantime, here is a fun little mani I did this week. I wore it to work, so it couldn’t be too outrageous. I used Tip Top Solar Flare for the base and Tip Top Cream Puff for the polka dots. I also added some lace stickers that I had lying around from Korea.

I really like it.. Hope you do too! πŸ™‚

Hallowe’en Challenge: #2 Pumpkins

I had a bit of a hard time with this topic. My nails are SO short at the moment, it’s very difficult to paint such detailed images on such a tiny surface. But I tried my best and I hope you like it.

We had a Wellness Day at my work on Friday and I got a free mini-manicure. So the base coat for this is an Essie polish. I then sponged on a bit of orange (to make it more pumpkin-like). I then hand painted 2 jack-o-lanterns and an attempt at a gravestone (you can’t really see the R.I.P… oopsie).

I’m not sure if anyone noticed on my new header and the logo on this post, I’ve designed a new Lekker Lacquer Logo. I’m really loving it! I’ve done it in about 10 different colours so I can just stick it on to my pics πŸ™‚

Aqua-glitter nails

Let’s start this post off with some nail pictures, seeing as it’s been a while…

I know that this is a very simple manicure, but I needed something that I could wear to work. This may be pushing it because it looks a bit disco, but I couldn’t resist. It’s nice working and then the glitter catches your eye and you can stare at it for a few seconds and think: “So pretty… so shiny…” before you have to snap back to reality. So, lets just say, it brightens up my day.

I also have some good news. My boyfriend and I have found an apartment! So we will be moving in in about 2 weeks! πŸ™‚ I’m so excited to get my life sorted out, to have a place to call home.. and of course, to have a place to stash all my polishes. Hopefully then I’ll have more time and be settled enough to start blogging more consistently.

Bliss, Sunshine… and ’70s style nails!

I’m loving being back in South Africa. Although it’s technically autumn, it’s absolutely beautiful weather. This inspired me to do a cheerful, summery nail design.

I’m loving nude at the moment, so I used that as the undercoat. I’m still using mainly my Korean brands, but I’m hoping to go shopping soon. We’re staying a bit outside of Johannesburg, it’s about a 15min drive to the nearest store. So I used a Modi nude colour, Modi white and a luminous blue and orange by Organic Farm (also a Korean brand that were super cheap). The only other thing I used was my dotting tool to make little daisies. Please excuse the pics, they aren’t 100% as I haven’t made a new lightbox yet. But I hope you can get the gist of it anyway.

We have also been playing around with my camera trying to do some awesome water shots in the pool. So we tried a nail one. It’s not amazing, but I like the effect. I’ll definitely try it again πŸ™‚

And last, but not least: Here is a glimpse of the beautiful estate we’re currently staying on with my boyfriends parents. It really feels like a vacation and I’m trying to soak in all of the beautiful surroundings. This is a picture we took when we went on a golf cart ride around the estate the other day. I’m really so blessed and happy to be in such a pretty place!

Bright blue…

I did this manicure today and I’m still deciding if I like it or not. What do you think? I thought it was kind of eye catching and different, so I decided to enter it as my second picture in Mommy Loves Nail Polish’s awesome Facebook contest, you can check out all the pics on her Facebook page.

About 80% of my polishes are in a box on their way back to South Africa right now, so I’ve got really limited colours to work with. I bought this blue about 2 days ago (just what I need a few days before leaving the country – more luggage!). But I couldn’t resist, it was less than $1, it’s a brand called Organic Farm and not bad for the price! This is a lumo deep blue. Then I stamped on top of it with Konad M83 and added some red gems. Hot or not? I’m still undecided.

I really enjoyed taking this mani out on the town today. It was bright and the perfect nail art to have for the day I had. My boyfriend and I went to a theme park, Lotte World in Seoul. It was a lot of fun! I went on my first roller coaster and screamed my lungs out! I wish I had a photo of me on the ride, it would have been priceless! But here’s a photo of Lotte World anyway πŸ™‚

South Africa – Ndebele Manicure

In 8 days I’m going to be getting on a plane with 46kg of my life in a bag and moving back to South Africa. I’ve got a lot of mixed emotions about the move back. On the one hand I’m really excited to see my friends and family that I haven’t seen in a year. But on the other hand I’m unemployed and moving to the big city.

Anyways, it got me thinking about South Africa. I decided to to a manicure of Ndebele murals. They are famous for their beautiful, colourful patterns that they paint on their houses. I absolutely love it. I think it really shows how vibrant and unique South Africa is. We have 11 languages, and tons of different cultures in our country.

I used lots of different colours, and I couldn’t tell you how I did it. I just looked at a picture and tried to copy some of the designs. I’m also going to enter this in Mommy Loves Polish’s competition on Facebook, so please check it out and support this great competition.

Here are the pics of the nails, what do you think? I hope you like it..
