Tutorial: Hand-painted Roses

I’m extremely happy with how these turned out! The nice thing about roses is that they don’t have to be absolutely perfect to look gorge! Here’s the final result:

I got the inspiration from Katy Perry. I absolutely love her nails, she always has such crazy designs. See the rose mani below (top left)?

If you are curious as to how to create this look yourself, check out my photo tutorial 🙂

Water Marble Monday

Seeing as I’m officially finished teaching AND I’m trying to avoid packing up my whole apartment, I decided to give water marbling another try 🙂

I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “Twisted Pink” and a blue from The Face Shop. I think that I’m getting the hang of water marbling because I only had to re-do one nail! So I’m really happy! Here it is:

I love how each nail is unique and unpredictable. My favourite is the thumb. What do you think?

Day 18 – Something classic

I decided to do a version of a French Manicure 🙂 I love French Manicures AND they are classic. This one didn’t turn out too Christmassy, I added some tape to try spice it up. But I realised that I don’t have red or green tape (Christmas colours).. But, I did my best and this is how it turned out 🙂

I used a Konad light pink that is very transparent as an undercoat, then I used tape and Sally Hansen White On to make a French manicure effect. After that I used blue and black tape and a lace black tape on one nail as an accent. That’s it! 🙂

Day 17 – Inspired by a Christmas movie

Today was officially the last day of work this year! Yay! So, I’m off for a few weeks and excited to catch up on this challenge and spend more time on them (especially with water marbling coming up!!!)

This is a bit late, and tomorrow I will post number 18. But for now, here’s what I have..

I did The Nightmare Before Christmas. I love the darkness of it 🙂 I looked around on Google and used a few pictures for inspiration.. now I have a serious craving to watch the movie again, and guess what? I CAN because I’m on vacation! YAY!

I hope you like this dark manicure, I was happy with it 🙂

Day 16 – Inspired by a song

Ok.. I’ve been struggling to keep up with these posts – AND it’s the most difficult section of topics. I decided to do Jingle Bells (I know that Polish Alcoholic did the same topic, and did an awesome job, which I was horrified to see, I’ve been terrified of going up against such a great blog in this challenge with the same topic) but I thought about it for ages and I couldn’t think of anything else. I figured it’s better to get it done than nothing at all.

I used a Skin Food mustard colour and a Face Shop yellow. I also used a Sally Hansen “White On”. I popped on a bow sticker for good measure too.

I promise that I will be more creative soon (tomorrow is the last day of work). I will be more creative and put some more time into this challenge for the future.. but for now.. here it is:

Day 9 – Pine

Today’s theme was pine. I wanted to do something a bit abstract. I was going to do a pine needle confetti, but I couldn’t figure out how to pull it off. So, I decided to do individual pine stems 🙂

I used Sally Hansen “White On” for the undercoat, then I used a paint brush to paint on a dark green and light green pine stick. The olive green is a Modi and the light green was a Face Shop polish.

So.. that’s all. Here’s the mani 🙂 I hope you like it!

Day 8 – Starry Night

Here is yesterday’s post 🙂 I really liked this topic and I like how it turned out.

Because it was glitter, I used a Modi Peel Off Base Coat which makes it really easy to remove. It peels off so easily! It really beats trying to remove it with nail polish remover. My friend, Nailart for Funn did a Modi Peel Off Base Coat review, you can read it here.

After the base coat, I used a Skin Food purple undercoat, followed by a Modi glitter polish (in the picture). I love this Modi polish because it has purple, blue and gold/bronze glitter in it. It’s a really interesting combination! Then I used a nail art brush and Sally Hansen “White On” to paint a star shape. In the middle of the white star I stuck a star-shaped nail art jewel.

So, here’s the mani. What do you think?
