Interview nails

I want to start this post of by thanking The Nailinator for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award. I have already done a post on it, but I’m am still flattered, honoured and appreciative πŸ™‚

I’ve officially entered the job hunt, and those of us who live in South Africa know just how challenging that can be. I was thrilled to receive a call only 2 days after posting my CV on an online job searching site. So, the following day (Thursday this week to be exact) I went in for an interview.

Now, I couldn’t go rocking a pink, blue and generally lumo water marble or some other extroverted nail art choice. So, I went the tried and tested french manicure route. I did add a little silver sticker, which I LOVE, that I got in Korea. I also went for a nude undercoat as opposed to the traditional pink. I’m very happy with how it looks! I’ll have to wait and see how the interview went. I have a different interview on Monday, so I hope that goes well. I’m excited to start working and to start my career. This may be the first of many more “career nails” to come. But I promise to still do outrageous, colourful designs on the weekend! πŸ™‚

Here it is, I hope you like:

Simple lines..

BeFunky_IMG_7551.jpg

This is one from the archives. I was just playing around and I created this mani. I used a Face Shop for the undercoat. I then put a silver stripe down the center and added metal studs as an accent on one nail.

I love the idea of putting a single stripe down the center of a nail, what do you think?

Burnt pink stamping manicure

This is one from the archives πŸ™‚ Its a relatively simple manicure, but I decided to spice it up with a Holika Holika matte top coat. I also added the french tip gloss top coat for contrast. I used a Konad silver stamping polish and the m67 stamping plate.

To be honest, I’m not crazy about this colour (and just as well because I couldn’t tell you what it’s called because it’s all in Korean). It’s a burnt pink colour from Missha. I really liked it in the bottle, but the more I saw it on my nails the more it reminded me of a granny manicure. I love the pics though, so I had to share it. Maybe you will like it, what do you think?

Day 4 – Silver

I must confess.. I don’t have just a plain silver polish (gasp), I know. Embarrassing. I haven’t had time or money to buy a silver polish, so I decided to just make a plan.

My plan: Pink undercoat, silver decorations. I think it worked out quite well (if I do say so myself). This is one of my fave manicures so far πŸ™‚ yay!

All I used was a Modi (Korean brand which is super cheap and so far has been great) burnt pink with a gold shimmer,Β  a silver two-way nail art pen/brush, and a few silver jewels.

So, this is my silver attempt. Although it doesn’t look very silvery in the pictures, in the light the silver really shines, it is quite pretty πŸ™‚ I hope you like it as much as I do…

My friend’s mani

Today I spent an extremely relaxed day at my friend’s house in Seoul, Korea. I’m coming down with flu, so we stayed indoors and ate nice food. I did my friend’s nails… πŸ™‚

I used a pink Modi (Korean brand from Aritaum), Sally Hansen Xtream Wear “White On”, Sally Hansen Xtream Wear “Flirt”, black nail art pen and silver nail art jewels. What do you think? I hope you like it πŸ™‚ – More importantly, I hope my friend likes it, because it’s on her nails right now πŸ™‚

Cute and Girly

Happy Friday to everyone πŸ™‚ It’s been a long week! I just want to do a quick post..

This is similar to a manicure I did a few weeks ago, tiny dotting french manicure. I also did an accent nail with some cute flowers. It’s a very cute, girly mani.

I used an ancient Yardley French Manicure Pink (I’ve had it for years, but it’s just a plain pink for french manicures), I also used a Modi pink, Sally Hansen “White on”, Skin Food lime green and some silver nail art tape. I used a dotting stick with a really small tip to make tiny dots. Its super cute and cheerful, it brightened up my day today πŸ™‚ I hope you like it!Β  What do you think?

Gradient glitter nails

I’ve been fascinated with the gradient nails that go from darker to lighter. When I first saw them I honestly thought people had different nail polishes for each nail, I was in awe! But, looking back I realise how silly that is. I found this mani surprisingly easy, although it uses quite a lot of nail polish because you have to mix it. I started with a very dark purple (Sally Hansen – Xtreme Wear “Flirt”) and mixed more and more white with it. Then at the end I sponged on some glitter (black and silver to the two darker nails and silver and clear polish to the lighter nails). Topped off with an OPI top coat. πŸ™‚ Here it is…
